![]() Loop Hero guide: late-game tips (Acts 3&4) Abilities matter, a lot See what happens when you play a bunch of forest cards. Most tiles have some kind of unique interaction, positive or negative, that adds to or changes their basic effect. Instead, place them next to a Mountain, a building, or almost anything, and watch them transform into a Blooming Meadow, an enhanced version that provides even more daily HP. Don't throw these and other basic tiles down wherever there's open space. At the outset of the game, you're going to get plenty of Meadow cards. There are lots of secret tile effects waiting to be discovered. If you want to take this a step further, use Oblivion cards to undo less-effective card placements, which will dial the boss progress bar back a little. It's OK to let your hero make a few loops without playing any cards. I actually avoid playing lower-tier cards like Rocks and Forest unless I'm forced to. That's OK: once your hand fills the bottom row of the screen, discarded cards actually become a useful resource you can use at camp. Inevitably, this means you'll churn through cards. If you play every card that comes into your hand all willy-nilly, you'll end up fighting the boss much sooner than you'd like. The green map completion bar in the upper left corner corresponds with how many tiles populate the board: watch this closely to make sure you spawn the boss when you're confident in your gear, HP, and level. The boss spawns on your campfire tile once you've placed a certain number of cards. (Image credit: Devolver) Delay the boss!ĭon't play every card that enters your hand. Swapping items too freely also has a minor disadvantage: when you hit max item capacity in your inventory and earn a new item, the oldest item becomes a piece of scrap metal, one of the more valuable basic resources for building camp structures. The Rogue's winged boots have ludicrously high evasion that I almost always reach for. Likewise, some gear art in particular will correspond with useful effects. Some lower-level rings will grant "+1 Skeleton," which can be a massive difference-maker in extended fights, and be preferable over many items three or four levels higher. The Necromancer is a particularly good example of why you should scrutinize gear before swapping it in. Meanwhile, 33% evasion stays pretty useful loop after loop. Focusing on building a bunch of Magic Damage (which surpasses defense) might help in the early game, but as you encounter higher-level enemies a handful of free damage will feel like a bad investment of your cards. Grey background (provides one stat boost)Īlso keep in mind that integer-based stats don't scale with you, as enemies level up with each loop.(Image credit: Devolver)įor reference, here's the rarity of Loop Hero items: Note that potions will still heal you fine, so make sure to have a lot of potions on hand.Yes, orange gear is usually better, but don't turn your brain off when swapping stuff. Also, do not use Meadows cards, or use them extremely sparingly, as Swamps reverse all healing effects such as the one you get from Meadows, Vampirism, and regeneration per second. Plus, the extra resurrection helps.Īvoid using any other enemy cards as you'll have enough to face as it is. Ancestral Crypt - Mosquitos will spawn constantly on the Swamp tiles, and since they have a Soul, you'll gain a lot of max HP from the Ancestral Crypt. You'll need to get rid of them in order to completely fill the loop with Swamp tiles, so Oblivion cards are a must. Oblivion - If you use Forest/Thicket cards, occasionally "A Village?" tiles will spawn on your loop. ![]() Suburb - Increased experience to unlock traits faster. You'll have to fight a lot of enemies as Mosquitos will constantly spawn along the loop, so anything that will help you defeat them easier is a must. Desert/Sand Dune - Decreases enemy HP.Forest/Thicket - Increases Attack Speed which will greatly help you in the fight against the Frog King.Rock/Mountain - Increases HP to help you survive the run.Road Lantern - Will help reduce the number of enemies spawning so you'll be able to live longer.Bookery - Can shuffle the cards in your hand to give you more opportunities to get Swamp cards. To better improve your odds of getting the cards needed, you should use the following deck combination or something similar. Getting all of the Swamp cards you need to spawn the Frog King is no easy feat. He spawns as a little green frog sprite, which can be hard to see against the green Swamp background, so keep a close eye out for him. Once every title on the Loop is a Swamp tile, the Frog King will spawn on one of them - which tile he spawns on is completely random so there is no way to prepare for it. The Frog King will appear on a random title after you've completely covered the Loop with Swamp tiles.

By mid-1984, the band were ready for a break. Each album release was accompanied by heavy media promotion and a lengthy concert tour. Three more albums followed in quick succession: Rio (1982), Seven and the Ragged Tiger (1983) and the live album Arena (1984). The band's first album, Duran Duran, was released in 1981, and they quickly became famous as part of the New Romantic movement. Le Bon agreed to "try out for the summer" within six weeks the band was playing steadily around Birmingham, London and Nottingham, and a national tour supporting Hazel O'Connor led to a record deal with EMI Records in December that year. After listening to the songs the band had already composed together, Le Bon spent some time fitting one of his poems ("Sound of Thunder") to one of the instrumentals, and found they had a good match. As band legend has it, he turned up for the audition wearing pink leopard-print trousers, and carrying a notebook containing a large collection of poems he had written-several of which would later become tracks on the early Duran Duran albums. Le Bon's ex-girlfriend, Fiona Kemp (a barmaid at the Rum Runner nightclub where Duran Duran were rehearsing), introduced him to the band in May 1980, recommending him as a potential vocalist. The band had a powerful pop sound flavoured with disco, funk and electronics, built on a solid rock rhythm section, and all they needed was a charismatic singer with a distinctive voice. The band went through a long succession of lineup changes after Duffy's departure, but finally settled on a guitarist and drummer.
